The Decline of The Western Roman Empire
In 395, the Roman Empire
has been split up into two parts: the Eastern
Roman
Empire and the Western Roman
Empire. After the death of Emperor Theodosius his
two
sons
each
rule
half
the
Empire.
Arcadius
rules
the
Eastern
part
of
the
Roman
Empire
also
known
as
the
Byzantine
Empire
and
Honorius
rules
the
Western
in the Western Empire,many events
happened including the crossing of the
Rhine in 406 by Germanic tribes, the
execution of Stilicho in 408, the sack of Rome
in 410, the death of Constantius III in
421, the death of Aetius in 454, the second sack
of Rome in 455, and the death of
Majorian in 461 which are emphasized by various
historians that caused the decline of
the Western in 476 AD, the Western
Roman
Empire
collapses
as
Emperor
Romulus
Augustus
is
forced
to
abdicate
by
Germanic general Odoacer.
The
explorations
on
the
collapse
problem
of
the
Western
Roman
Empire
have
always
been
the
key
points
that
the
historian
circle
pays
attention
have
researched and found out various
reasons on this my opinion, there are four
important factors that led to the the
decline of the Western Roman first
important
reason
is
the
crisis
of
e
of
the
development
of
the
productivity,production
relationship
of
slavery
can
not
satisfy
people’s
was
outdated and hindered
the development of productivity. Under this
circumstance, one
special
group
of
people
named
villainages
appeared
at
that
nages
were
slaves
or
insolvent
farmers
given
a
small
piece
of
land
by
the
slave
owners
whose
latifundios were
increasingly profitless owing to the low
efficiency of slave labor to
cultivate
and
they
payed
the
rents
of
the
land
to
the
slave
giving
sone
freedom
on
the
land,
the
slave
owners
were
intended
to
stimulate
the
initiative
of
slave
labor
、
increase the
production and improve the to the villainages, the
pattern of slavery economy collapsed
and this promotes the transformation of slavery
economy to the feudal economy. However,
the governors of Western Roman Empire
still ruled their in the old it led to
the economic crisis in Western Roman
Empire.
The
extravagance
at
that
time
is
the
second
factor
I
should
the
dictatorial
system
took
the
place
of
the
republican
system
and
when
the
kings’
personal rights took
priority over the whole country, things were so
easy to get so that
they just knew to
seek pleasure, did not care about the stability
and development of
the
state
and
did
not
cherish
the
things
they
the
other
hand,
because
the
bankruptcy
of
the
small
producer,
citizen
team
continued
to
citizens follow the rulers and idled
about all the day. The transformation of political
and
economic
situation
had
caused
prevailing
the
ethos
of
beer
and
skittles
in
the
society
and in turn this ethos had led to political
corruption and was essential to the
decline
of
Western
Roman
ore,the
extravagance
of
individual
consumption
was
an
important
factor
leading
to
the
collapse
of
Western
Roman
empire.
