Loss of
Biodiversity
Biodiversity
remains
a
preoccupation.
This
report
aims
to
introduce
the
definition
of
biological
diversity
and
it
’
s
relation
with
human
beings,
and
describe the detrimental impact on the
environment caused by the reduction of
biodiversity, with some measures
attached for biodiversity conservation.
What is the
biodiversity?
Ecologically speaking, as
its name suggests,
it refers to the sum
of all kinds of organism on the earth. It’s not
just a matter of
tigers
and
whales,
or
butterflies
and
trees,
but
a
matter
of
bacteria,
virus,
fungus (
真菌)
and
the other known or unknown species.
Biodiversity and the entire human race
are closely related.
It
’
s com-
mon
sense that nowadays
the
world
’
s
biodiversity
is
decreasing
rapidly
and
this
decrease has badly affected
the
earth
health.
Without
trees,
we
won
’
t
be
able
to
survive. Without the natural
microbial (
微生物的
)
friends,
there would be hundreds of
billion
tons
of
waste
left
in
the
world
which
would
definitely
contaminate
the
land around us.
We
create automobile, we invent aircraft, so we need
energy. We have
large
coal
reserves,
so
we
make
power.
If
there
were
no
resources
on
this
planet, neither would be industrial
revolution. But because of the electricity and
transportation, we have a good
performance on development. However, what
is
unfortunate
is,
due
to
the
production
of
various
products,
the
process
produce more pollutants than product
itself. Undoubtedly, these pollutants lead
to
the
pollution
that
results
in
the
decrease of
biodiversity.
Lots
of
people
know
that
the reduction of
biodiversity will
bring adverse
effects
. But few is
crystal
clear
about
the
full
course
of
the
interaction
between
them.
I
don
’
t quite
comprehend that how
it works nor am I
good at exploring
the
truth,
but
I
have
my
own
