FILTER FABRICS

shall

made

by

an

approved,

reputable

manufacturer

and shall

have a mass and strength

at least

equal

the criteria in Table 9.1.

the

be sufficient

to

effectively

retain

the

material

on

which

it

is

placed

but

shall

not

in

any

event

be greater than 150 microns.

1. If decided by the Engineer, or shown on the Drawings, the

Contractor

shall

place

a

prefabricated

plastic

net

(geo-grid)

for

erosion

protection

of

the

slope

after

placing

topsoil

and

seeding

or incorporated in the topsoil layer of turf or sod.

2. Such mesh shall be of a type and with strength suitable for

stabilising the slope surface against slumping and erosion until

vegetation has been established. The mesh shall be provided by a

reputable supplier and shall have a proven record from erosion

protection of similar slopes and soil materials.
