2. What is the meaning of life?
I think it
’
s so
hard to tell. When look up the word
“
life
”
in the dictionary, life means what we
are
experiencing
during
the
time
between
birth
and
death,
both
physically
and
mentally.
However,
the
meaning
of
life
doesn
’
t
only
means
this
of
course.
Then
I
check
online
to
see
if
there
’
s a proper
answer to this question, but it turns out to be
that life means everything.
In my
opinion, life means these following 3 things:
growth, love, happy.
Firstly,I think
life means growth. At every moment of my life, I
may face different difficulties,
sometimes
I
get
through
it
and
then
move
on,
but
sometimes
I
fail.
I
used
to
try
my
best
to
achieve
all the goals I had set, to my surprise, failure
taught me more than success. Every time
after my failure, I will be stronger
than before. Thus, I gradually grow from a little
girl to a young
lady, I think
that
’
s the meaning of life.
You can easily find everybody around you is
growing with
you, then, a new life and
a new world.
Secondly,
I
think
life
means
love.
There
’
s
an
old
saying:
Love
is
something,
to
be
loved
is
nothing,
love and to be loved are everything. I
can
’
t imagine a person live
on without love.
3. How
does your family usually celebrate Chinese New
Year?
Chinese New Year, or Chinese
Spring Festival, holds the most significant
position among all
Chinese festivals
and New Year is always a time to celebrate
because it brings new
hopes and
aspirations. Nowadays, my families always follow
all the left customs to celebrate it.
Firstly,our families will clean our
home and decorate it together in time for New
Year. This
tradition hold because we
believe that cleaning the house at this time of
year will
the bad luck
the
good luck to start entering again. As for the
decoration, the color that is most recommended
is red. Red is the color or symbol of
good luck in Chinese culture. The number
good
luck
and
wealth,
as
in
Chinese
the
word
for
eight
rhymes
with
fortune
or
wealth.
The
cleaning and decoration also give my
families a chance to work together.
Secondly,
we
will
have
a
traditional
dinner
on
New
Year's
Eve.
This
is
one
of
the
most
important parts of the
holiday and the food eaten at this time of year
has traditional meanings
related
to
the
Chinese
New
Year.
We
won
’
t
eat
meat
on
the
first
day
because
each
new
year
carries the name of an
animal. Traditional dishes include fish, chicken,
noodles, dumplings and
desserts.
Finally, we will have a reunion, chat
with others a lot and enjoy some delicious food
.If time
permitted, we also visit our
relatives and friends as well.
It
’
s a time of connecting
and sharing the
celebrations together.
During the reunion, the kids of my family will set
off fireworks and adults
will just
watch TV together.
Above
all,
the
Chinese
New
Year
is
the
time
we
relax
ourselves
and
strengthen
ourrelationship with our friends and
relatives.
4. Have
computers and the Internet improved our lives?
How?
Yes, of course .Computer plays an
essential part in our lives .
Firstly,
with the use of computers, we are able to
communicate with anyone all over the
world who has internet accesstoo,It's
also easier to send things over to people like
pictures and
videos. Computers act as
the medium to transfer all sorts of information to
let us connect with
our friends
wherever they are.
Secondly, with the
help of computers, many new inventions have risen,
like the introduction
of Robots, Palm
Computers, Modern Phones, GPS navigation and other
more advanced products
and appliances.
Finally, without computers, our world
would be so much harder to cope with!Computers
have made our lives just that one
little but easier!Computers can do the essential
but tiring works
what people
don’t
like to do, which
saves much of our time and improve our accuracy of
doing
jobs. It is obviously easier to
write documents up with just a simple press of a
few buttons.
Computers have also
revolutionized our way of thinking and the way we
ers
have improved our lives a lot, and
will continue to improve and advance our lives
until the end of
time!
5. What motivates you to study?
My motivation of study is very simple,
for my family, for myself .
On the one
hand, I study for my family. I am the first
college student from a famous
university in my family because of some
historical problems. When I got the offer from
UIBE, I
knew that I want every family
member be proud of me. My grandmother used to
taught me how
to study, she urged me to
get an A in every exam. Although some people
thought it was too strict,
but it did
help me a lot
——
not because of the good grades I got in
the past times, but the effort
I made.
Because of her, I know that I should make every
effort to achieve my goal in spite of the
outcome. So I study hard because I know
I should try my best.
On the other
hand, I study for myself.
I
’
d like to get some
preparations for my near future,
I
’
d
like to live
a better life with a good job and an acceptable
salary, I
’
d like to have a
cozy dwelling in
a city I like. So I
study hard because it
’
s now
a way for all above things within my reach.
6. What do you like about
China?
Since I am Chinese, the answer
to this question is meaningful than foreigners. I
like Chinese
culture, Chinese food and
Chinese people.
Firstly, Chinese
culture told me to have
humilityand be
moderate
. That
’
s
very useful in modern
times. There is a
Chinese saying: 'Modesty helps one go forward,
whereas conceit makes one lag
behind.
’
Our
ancestors taught us keep learning something from
others all the times. Humility also
means there
’
s no
best, only better. As for moderation,
it
’
s easy to understand it
because Chinese
people always try to do
this.
Secondly, I enjoy Chinese food
every much. There
’
s a hit
documentary named a bite of China
shows
the delicious food around China, which makes my
mouth watered every time when I watch
it.
Finally,
I
really
enjoy
be
with
Chinese
people,
though
everyone
may
have
some
kind
of
shortages.
Most
of
Chinese
people
are
friendly,
caring,
helping.
And
the
most
important
character of
Chinese people I like is their showing respect to
the old people.
8. In your
opinion, what qualities are important in a friend?
In my opinion, friend is someone who
would accept me as what Iam and who I
am.
None
of us is perfect as
we are human beings not angels. So friend is the
one who accept me as it is,
point out
my weak points and also help me to improve them.
However, there are still
some kinds of qualities that are important for me
to make a friend.
Firstly, he or she
should be honest. I hate people lie to me, I think
it
’
s essential for friends
to
communicate with honest. The world
lies too much, I can
’
t
imagine how I could make friends
with
lies.
Secondly,
from my point of
view, accepting a friend is like accepting thing
that isin me.
Friends usually are
reflections of our innermost self, friends
reflects the kind of person we are,
for
somehow they possess qualities and personalities
that are also in us. The qualities we are
looking for a friend usually are those
qualities that are in us. They somehow tend to
project
the kind of ourselves. There is
a strong saying that goes this way
are,
and I will tell you who you
are
outgoing.
Aside all, when
I really want to make a friend,in the first place,
I do not look for qualities
in my
friend. I check myself whether I am worthy to be a
friend to a person, whether I am
honest, upright, kind, generous, humane
to a person. Only if I possess these qualities, I
approach someone and become friendly.
9. Should rich
people help poor people and, if so, how?
First,
while
monetary
aid
could
bring
medical
supplies
and
food
and
thus
increase
population, it could also bring
increased education and a loose population
control. Helping the
poor could
actually decrease the rate of population growth
and, in the end, save environmental
resources.
Secondly,
helping
to
reduce
absolute
poverty
would
also
bring
about
more
people
who
would
be
in
a
position
economically,
socially,
and
medicallyto
contribute
to
cleaning
up
environmental problems and helping
overpopulation problems.
Finally,
from
a
conservative
point,
it
is
important
to
note
that
people
are
an
economic
resource at least
as important as firewood and fertile soil, and to
allow people to die of poverty is
to
waste resources. The obligation to help the poor
is simply a matter of human rights.
As
for the way to provide help, the rich should try
to give money to the poor by face to face
instead of raising their money for some
charities. Or they can just open some schools in
the poor
area to provide them a better
education.
10. Do you take
medicine (western or eastern) when you are sick?
Why or why not?
I think the answer to
this question is it depends.
On the one
hand, when I have a cold or some slight diseases,
I won
’
t take any medicine, I
will just lie down and have a rest.
After the rest, I always feel better. I believe my
own immune
system
is
strong
enough
to
win
the
war
vs
virus.
And
it
’
s
also
a
good
chance
for
training
the
immune system.
On the other
hand, if I have a bad disease which I have to go
to the hospital to receive a
treatment,
I will follow the doctor
’
s
advice to take some medicine. Because I believe
the doctor
’
s
working
experience
and
I
think
the
only
way
to
feel
better
is
to
have
some
medicine.
Furthermore, if I am acute ill, I will
take some western medicine, but in long terms,
I
’
d prefer a
eastern way.
11.
When did you last go on a holiday?
What was it like?
