广告
1. Do you like advertisements on TV?
Oh no, TV is a
purgatory. The TV advertisements today appear to
be not only
boring but also disturbing.
They interrupt in the midst of our enjoyment of a
game or
a film. Most of the
advertisement materials are irritating and of
course of low taste.
The presentation
is mostly awkward and obscene.
2.
What kind of advertisement do you like the most?
Word of mouth
is hands down the BEST advertising. It's one of
the most
credible forms of advertising
because every time people make a recommendation,
they have nothing to gain but the
appreciation of those who are listening.
3. Why do you think there
are so many advertisements now?
Whether you do like them or
not, whenever and wherever it's possible that you
can meet them. For biz sellers, ad
could be very helpful to promote their products.
For
acceptors, ads might show some
latest information. To buy or not to buy, to be
fond
of or not, all depend on your
decisions.
4. What are the various
places where we see advertisements?
Today, media is so
blatantly filled with advertising: TV, radio,
magazine,
newspaper, billboards. Even
more pathetic when I recently watched a 16 second
clip
with a two-minute commercial
without the option to skip. I think many
advertisements are brain-washing us.
p>
p>
5. How do you
feel about advertisements?
I hate advertising because the people
behind it are so good at making us feel or
think a certain way. They are good at
getting our attention and planting the seeds of
emotion and through that they can
convince us of non-
truths: We’re too
old, too fat,
too ugly, behind the
times, unintelligent, our car is too slow, TV too
small, couch too
hard, x too y, y too
x.
……
6. Do advertisements
influence your choice about what to buy?
No. I don't let
some schmucks tell me what I'm going to buy, cars,
computers, or
whatever. If I'm
interested in a product, a car for example, I will
look at the comments
on line in
advance, but I don't make a decision based on an
advertisement.
Colors
颜色
1. What is your favourite colour?
Well, I love
vibrant colours, especially bright red. You know,
clearly, red
symbolizes good fortune
and wealth in our culture, so Chinese normally
dress in red
during Lunar New Year.
Moreover, the jacket in red really matches me
well.
2. Do
you usually wear clothes in your favourite colour?
Yes, my
favourite colours are black and white and I love
wearing clothes in
neutral colours
because it can reflect my personality. Actually,
I’ve seen some of the
fashion magazines
telling that monochromic shirt is the future
fashion trend.
(
)
3. Are there any colours
that have a special meaning in your country?
Sure, Chinese
people actually are quite superstitious. They put
different meaning
on colours, like for
example, red, yellow and green are occasionally
used for festivals
in order to express
their joyfulness and happiness. So, they normally
combine these
colours together to
decorate their home and courtyard.
4. Do you
think different types of people like different
colours?
Sure,
well, I think people in different personality will
certainly affect their
faourite colour,
what I mean is, if they are sportive, outgoing
with positive thinking,
they’ll choose
something like warm colours, you know like,
re
d, orange and yellow,
which tend to make you think of
sunlight and warmth.
5. How important do you
think colours are?
Well, I’d say, colour is a crucial
ingredient in our daily
life,
especially when
related to culture and
religion. For instance, in Chinese culture, yellow
signifies
freedom from worldly cares
and that’s why all monks’ garments are in
yellow.
Food
食物
1. Is food important to you?
Yes, I have a
healthy appetite. You know, different types of
food can provide
enough fibre, vitamins
and minerals, and these are essential for our body
to work
properly and enable us to have
the energy to work or study.
2. What foods do you
usually eat?
Well, I love to eat fast food, which is
timesaving and economical, as I don’t need
to wait in a queue and it can cut my
budget on
food. However, I’ve heard
that eating
junk food on a daily basis
will certainly cause obesity and other chronic
disease, so
now I’d like to cut down
the times on having McDonald’s or stuff like
that.
3. What kind of food do you
particularly like?
Well, I’m crazy about dessert. I
normally go to the coffeehouse to have high teas.
Having a cup of refreshing drink and
some tea dessert like muffin and croissant is
helpful to keep me in good mood in the
afternoon. Though these foods contain high
calories, I’ve no attempt to resist
these dainty foods.
4. Is there any
food you don’t like?
Yes, I
don’t eat
meat. I’m a vegetarian and believed that eating
meat is brutal to
animals and is
harmful to our health. Clearly, the
overconsumption of red meat may
cause
high blood glucose levels and lead to diabetes.
p>
5. Do you think it’s good to take
children to restaurants?
Well, it’s not appropriate
to take children to eat outside on a regular
basis,
because they may consequently
get adapted to it and reluctant to eat home-cooked
meals, which is normally prepared under
sanitary conditions. Therefore, parents
should avoid children’s bad eating
habit.
History
历史
1. Do you like (to learn about)
history?
I love
history it shows us where we come from. People say
history always
repeats itself and it
does. I think it’s important to look back so we
can learn from past
mistakes and make
sure we don't make the same ones as ancestors did.
My favorite
time in history would have
to be the medieval times.
2. Do
you think history is important?
History is the record of
events of what had happened in the past. In a
sense all
developments in politics,
government, society, inventions and discoveries
are part of
human history. History
helps you understand yourself better and
understand others
around you better.
p>
3. Do
you think you can learn history from films or TV
programs?
No.
Unless the film is presented as a documentary, no
strict adherence to the
historical
record is mandated. You go to movies not to learn
about history but to be
entertained,
frightened, thrilled
. That’s all great.
But there’s no reason that an episode
of history has to be done with a
certain degree of accuracy, because that’s not the
objective of a movie. My view is, if
you get your history from movies or TV
programs, you get what you deserve.
4.
Do you think the internet is a good way to learn
about history?
There many excellent resources for the
study of history available on the Internet.
Keep in mind, however, that not
everything published on the Internet is reliable
information. We should all be careful
and use our commonsense when surfing the
Internet. Always check the information
you learn from online against reliable sources
elsewhere.
5. Does your country have a
long history?
With more than 4,000 years of recorded
history, China is one of the few existing
countries that also flourished
economically and culturally in the earliest stages
of
world civilization.

Names
名字
1. Does your name have any special
meaning?
I was
named Eve. I don't like it. I can't stand it for
religious reasons. I don't like
being
named after the woman who picked the apple in the
Garden of Eden. The only
thing I like
about it is that it's short and easy to pronounce
and spell.
我叫

I love my name
and I don’t think I would change it because it’s a

Ning, they call me “Hong Ning” for short.
Sometimes

4. How are babies
given their names in China?
People have always showed
particular concern for the meaning, and sound when
they name children. It is expected that
a name given by parents carries their wish,
hope, pursuit, aspiration, etc.

names?
There
are many reasons someone would change their names,

personal preference,
fortune-telling, etc.

Noises
噪音
1. Do you mind noises?
Yes, traffic noise has a
huge influence on me and this may lead to
permanent
hearing loss. Actually, I’m
quite sensitive to this kind of sound. You know,
even the
sound of a car alarm in the
next street can wake me up at midnight.
2. What are some of the advantages of
quiet places?
