Brief introduction to Xixi National Wetland

Park

Located

in

the

west

of

Hangzhou

City,

Xixi

National

Wetland

Park

is

only

6

km

to

the

Wulin

Gate

in

the

key

central

area

of

Hangzhou

and

only

5

km

to

West

Lake.

The

Xixi

area

started

in

Han

and

Jin

dynasties,

developed

in

Tang

and

Song

dynasties,

prospered

in

Ming

and

Qing

dynasties,

declined

in

the

period

of

Republic

of

China

and re-prospered in modern times. Along with

West

Lake

and

Xiling

Seal

Society,

Xixi

is

well-

known

as

one

of

the

“three

Xi”.

In

the

past

Xixi

covered

an

area

of

60

square

kms.

Now

the

total

area

of

Xixi

wetland

is

about

11.5 square kms that developed in successively

three stages.

Xixi is a rare wetland in China that integrates

urban

wetland,

cultivating

wetland

and

cultural

wetland

into

a

whole.

Also

it

is

the

first national wetland park in the country.

scenic

area

been

designated as

Snow- like Reeds Dancing in autumn,
