MY SCHOOL LIFE
My school is
very beautiful and I love it a lot.
There is a big playground in my school. We have
P.E. class on the
playground and we
often play sports on it , too. Our teaching
building
has
five
floors.
My
classroom
is
on
the
fifth
floor.
It
is
big
and
clean.
The
computer
rooms
are
on
the
third
floor.
There
is
a
library
on
the
second
floor.
There
are
many
books
in
the
library.
I
often
read
books
here.
There
are some music rooms
and art rooms in the teaching building, too.
The
teachers
in
my
school
are
very
kind
.
The
students
are
very
polite
and
smart. I am happy in my school.
Language study
How should
you study English? This is my method:
1. Study authentic language materials.
The writing and speech of
native
speakers are best. If you want to learn Chinese, I
would advise
you not to take
my bad writing in Chinese
as
a model (though the
Chinese
learning materials I post on this site
are always checked by native
speakers).
On the Internet, you can find articles and
broadcasts of any
level
on
any
topic,
in
almost
any
language.
If
you
can't
understand
harder
texts, search for
儿童文学
(Children's
Literature), for example. In
China I
saw several
bad English. Why study
these when so many authentic materials are
available on the Internet and
elsewhere?
2. The Internet can be a
good language environment. It's best to go
to a country when you're studying its
language, but many people don't
have
this
opportunity.
I
started
studying
French
when
I
was
14,
only
had
a
French
teacher
from
France
in
college,
and
went
to
France
for
the
first
time at
22. When I was in school I wanted to improve my
spoken French,
but didn't know any
French friends to talk with. Once my family bought
a computer; I searched for
became
my
language
environment.
If
you
want
to
study
the
spoken
language,
reading books isn't necessarily best.
You can only learn the spoken
language
by studying natural conversation.
3.
Use
a
textbook
and
teacher
as
guides.
The
best
model
is
authentic
language
materials, but you at least need a dictionary.
Children don't
need a guide to learn
their mother tongue, but we're not kids, studying
languages isn't as natural for us. My
favorite way to study is to read
and
listen
on
my
own,
and
for
parts
I
don't
understand,
consult
a
textbook
or ask
my teacher. This also works: do a web search for
the sentences
in your
textbook
—
you'll find plenty
of natural examples in context.
4.
Study
linguistics.
Linguistics
is
the
scientific
study
of
language.
It's a very useful
tool. Once you know the phonetic transcription
used
in your dictionary (Pinyin is good
for Chinese), you don't need to hear
a
new word to know its pronunciation, you just need
to look it up.
Linguists
can
also
use
linguistic
terminology
to
accurately
describe
your
pronunciation and grammar errors.
5.
Study
hard.
This
might
seem
obvious,
but
some
people
seem
to
think
there's some trick to
learning languages. Study for a few hours every
day, and after a few years you'll make
great improvements.
About People
People
like
to
say

successful
man

there
is
a
woman
．
Now
some
women
still
like
making
their
husbands
and
sons
successful.
But
some
women
want
more
for
themselves.
They
want
good
jobs.
When
they
work,
they want to be as successful as men.
Now many American women are working
outside their homes. More than
half of
the women at the age of eighteen to sixty-five
have got jobs.
Working
women
have
had
more
education
than
those
who
stay
at
home.
Among
women with jobs, eight out of ten,
drive a car to work. And most of them
often
spend
holidays
away
from
home.
Women's
work
has
changed
their
lives,
and
men's
lives
too.
Working
gives
them
fewer
chances
of
getting
married,
for many men still want to marry women
in the old ways.
Friendship
In
a
broad
sense,
friendship
exists
between
all
human
beings
even
though some of them may never know each
other all their lives. If yoa
are
a
peasant,
you
grow
crops
and
provide
other people with
food. So
you
are their
friend. In return, they will provide you with
farming tools
and advanced technology.
So they
are
also your
friends. Yoar friendship
makes your
life possible and easier.
Of
course,
friendship
between
familiar
people
is
also
important.
When we are in
trouble, we want other people to give us a hand;
when we
are upset, we need other people
to give us comfort and encouragement.
Friendship makes life more meaningful
and beaatiful.
One important thing
about friendship is that it should be
consistent and lasting. We should be
friendly to our friends even when
they
are poor and in bad luck. A friend in need is a
friend indeed. Real
friendship should
stand the test of time and hardship.
Good Health
The desire for
good health is universal. In our competitive
society
it is important to maintain
good health. On the one
hand
，
people with
good health can do work with full
confidence and their progress in work
in turn contributes to their health and
happiness. On the other
hand
，
a sick
person is usually not interested in everything
around him and
therefore he loses many
opportunities to become successful.
There are many ways to keep it.
First
，
those who are always
on the
go from morning till night
should find time to relax because too much
stress
will
affect
their
health.
Second
，
enough
time
should
be
left
for
sleep
because that will help one become rested and
refreshed. Finally
，
regular physical exercises benefit
one‘s health a lot. So one should
always keep in mind that a certain
amount of exercise is not a waste of
time.
As
for
me
，
I
like
playing
tennis
in
the
morning.
I
also
attach
much
importance to
enough sleep and relaxation. I believe this will
ensure
my good health for the rest of
my life.
