1. Three Main Parts of a Book report

Generall speaking, a book report onsists of the folloing

three main parts: ? Information about the author and his

book

? Comments on it

A desription of the author’s times should be given together

ith a brief aount of his life. It should inlude the

irumstanes that led to the riting of the book under disussion

and the historial and soial bakground related to the ontent

of the book. To make these things lear, the riter perhaps

needs to read some referene material, suh as biographies of

the author and histories of the period desribed in the book.

Writing of the Book Report

1) The summar of the book should be self-ontained, lear, and

eas to understand. Above all, it should be objetive.

2) Comments on and ritiisms of the book should not be mixed

ith the summar; the an be left to the third part.

3) The summar of a novel or a pla is usuall ritten in the

present tense, hile that of nonfition, in the tense of the

original ork: for example, the past tense should be used for

a histor, and the present for a sientifi ork.

This is perhaps the hardest paragraph to rite in five
