A:
Ladies
and
gentlemen.
Welcome
to
our
Chinese
Culture
Event
today
.
We
are
all
the
Chinese
students
from
Linnaeus
University
.
My name
is…
B:
My
name
is
…
.
It’s
our
great
honor
to
be
here
to
show
you
a
totally
different
culture,
Chinese
culture.
Hope every one will enjoy it.
A:
Chinese
New
Y
ear
Festival
is
the
most
important
traditional
holiday
for
Chinese, just like
Christmas to Swedes.
But
the
festival
is
calculated
by
Chinese
lunar
calendar
and
has
been
celebrated
for
more than
four thousand
and seven
hundred years.
B:
Exactly.
According
to
Chinese
calendar, the date of spring festival
eve
changes every
year.
And this
year
was
on Jan 22
nd
.
Besides,
there
’
s a group
of
twelve animals representing a circle
of
twelve
years
in
order.
Like
Tiger,
Rabbit,
and
this
year
is
the
Dragon
Y
ear.
A:
Dragons
are
typically
portrayed
as
long, scaled creatures with
four
legs as
what
you
can
see
here
if
you
look
up
now.
There
are
four
Dragons.
And
if
you
look
around,
you
may
see
the
paper cutting in the
windows.
B:
Paper
cutting
design
originated
in
China.
During
the
Eastern
Han
Dynasty
,
paper
was
invented
by
a
Chinese,
蔡
伦
.
Paper
cutting
has
different
meanings
depending
on
the
different
pictures,
but
its
major
meaning
is
to
bring
good
luck
to
New
Y
ear.
A
:
General
house-cleaning
is
the
first
step
we
prepared
for
the
New
Y
ear.
Then
we
go
shopping;
do
a
little
decoration
to
our
houses
with
Spring
Festival Scrolls,
Lanterns and so on.
B:
We set off
firecrackers or
fireworks
to
get
rid
of
evils
of
the
old
year
and
bring
good
luck
to
the
New
Y
ear.
Y
oung
men
hold
the dragon and dance
through
the
streets.
Besides,
p
eople
attach
great
importance
to
Spring
Festival Eve.
A:
That
’
s
true.
In
Chinese
culture,
Reunion
is
a
significant
element.
That’s
why
wherever
the
people
are,
it
’
s
time
for
family
to
go
back
home
and
have
a
big
meal
together.
Dumplings
are
traditional
food,
especially
for
the
northern
China.
The
shape
of
the
dumpling
resembles
gold
ingot
from
ancient
China.
So
people
eat
them
and
wish
for
prosperity
and
treasure.
B:
After
dinner,
the
whole
family
will
sit
together,
chatting
and
watching
a
very
popular
Chinese
celebration
program on TV
. During the
festival, we
visit our relatives and
friends. Children
are
given
red
pockets
with
money
inside
from
their parents,
grandparents
or
other
elders.
Also,
people
prefer
to
wear
red.
The
color
means
fire
which
keeps away from bad luck.
A:
For
women,
they
’
re
eager
to
wear
旗袍
, Qipao
is one
of the
most typical,
traditional costume for Chinese women.
It
is
like
a
wonderful
flower
in
the
Chinese colorful
fashion
because of
its
particular
charm.
It
can
display
women's
modesty
, softness and
beauty
.
B:
Thank
you.
Actually
it
’
s
our
first
time
living
so
far
away
from
our
homes
and
couldn
’
t
celebrate
the
festival
together
with
our
family,
but
luckily
,
we
have
built
a
Chinese
Student
Association and
met so
many
international
friends
here,
which
makes
us immersed in the feeling that
we are
family.
A:
So
we
have
a
new
family
here
now.
Please,
if you want to know more
about Chinese
Culture, you can
find what you are
interested in
here. Enjoy. Thank
you.

瞧!
“大地春光好,
