around full of garbage, full
of anger.
As their garbage gets more, they need a place to
dump it and sometimes they’ll dump it
on you. Don’t
take it seriously. Just smile, wave,
wish them well, and move on. Don’t take their
garbage and pass it to other people at
work, at home, or on the streets.

For
five
days,
Edmonton’s
Downtown
Park
is
changed
into
one
really
large
stage
where
artists
are
able
to
share
their
talents,
and
where
people
are
able
to
celebrate
and
enjoy
themselves. Since its beginning in
1980, the Edmonton Folk Music
Festival(
乡村音乐节
) has been
celebrating
with
the
tru

feeling
of
what
folk
music
is
all
about
and
that’s
the
traditional
togetherness(
友爱
)
that is felt when people
get together
to share stories and feelings through
songs.
This
year
will
be
the
sixth
year when
volunteer Riedel
will
be
offering
up
her
time
to
the
festival.
“People coming off a busy spring and summer have a
moment of
relaxation
,
”
Riedel said.
“It’s really
eas
y
to relax, and it’s
great seeing family and friends have fun
together.” These families
and friends
come from all different kinds of musical tastes.
People who take pleasure in Blues are
there, so are people who love
Bluegrass. This festival does its best to develop
everyone’s musical
interests.
With so many years of experience, the
festival has become a well-oiled machine, and does
whatever it can to make those people
who attend it feel as comfortable as possible.
There are
free water stations
throughout the venue(
举办地
)
for people to fill up their travel cups. When
people buy food, reusable dishes are
given a $$2 plate fee(
费用
),
but that is returned when the
plate is
brought back.
The festival has
completely sold out of tickets, and in record
time. But with big names such

as
Van
Morrison
and
Jakob
Dylan,
it’s
easy
to
see
how
that
was
going
to
happen.
There
is
no
parking area during the festival, so
using the Park & Ride system or Edmonton Transit
is highly
recommended. A bike lock-up
area is provided and people may use the bikes
there from Thursday
to Sunday one hour
before the gates open until 45 minutes after the
gates close.
The Edmonton Folk Music
Festival begins on Wednesday, Aug
4
th
with Van Morrison
playing
the special donation fund
concert, and will finish up on Sunday, Aug

Have you ever dreamed
about flying in the sky in your own flying car? It
would be wonderful
to fly at will. You
would not need to spend hours in traffic every
day. You could also travel large
distances
very
quickly.
Since
the
Wright
brothers
built
their
airplane
in
1903,
several
pioneers
have worked to
invent a flying car. According to car industry
experts(
专家
), the dream of
flying
cars will soon be real.
An
engineer
named
Paul
Moller
recently
invented
such
a
car.
Moller
has
spent
almost
40
years
and millions of dollars developing his
prototype
. The car which has
room for four people is
designed to
take off and land in small spaces and can fly as
high as 10,000 meters. It uses four
external
engines(
外部引擎
) to move up,
down, and sideways. The car, unluckily,
can
’
t fly very far
because it needs much
fuel(
燃料
).
Moller
’
s car is guided by
computers and satellite systems. He
showed that a car could be built to
fly.
A flying car society has many
problems to solve. The first thing is safety. If
there are no roads,
what
will
stop
people
from
crashing
into
each
other?
It
is
easy
for
one
car
to
travel,
but
what
happens when there are
thousands? Another thing is cost. At the moment,
it costs several million
dollars for
one year. How can people have so much money to buy
them? The third thing is fuel.
There
needs to be enough fuel for these cars to use. The
fuel also needs to be less polluting than
the kind we use now. Still, technology
gets more advanced(
先进的
). It
is likely that these problems
will be
solved in a few years. Then, dreams of quick and
easy flight will be real.
34. What is the main cause for Paul
Moller to invent a flying car?
A.
Because he wanted to set a good example for those
pioneers.
B. Because he wanted to solve
some traffic problems for the policemen.
