一：典题技法指导
This
story
happened
to
me
many
years
ago
but
I
can
still
remember
it
well.
When
I
was
fresh
out
of
school
and
working in Denver, I was driving to my
parents' home
in Missouri for
Christmas.
On my way,
I
found that my car was
running out of gas. So I stopped at a
gas station about 50 miles from from Oklahoma
City, where I was planning to stop and
visit a friend. While I was standing in
line at the cash
register(

), I said hello
to a couple(

) who were
also paying
for gas and they responded
with their warm smiles.
I took off, but
had gone only a few miles when black smoke poured
from the back of my car. My car just broke down.
What a trouble! I stopped and was
wondering what I should do next when a car pulled
up behind me. It was the couple I had
spoken to at the gas station. They said
they would take me to my friend's. We chatted
happily on the way to the city, and
when I got out of the car, the husband
gave me his business card.
Arriving
home, I wrote to him and his wife a thank-you note
for helping me. Soon afterwards, I received a
Christmas
present from them. In their
note they said that helping me had made their
holidays meaningful.
Years later, I
drove to a meeting in a nearby town in an early
morning. The road condition was quite poor on the
way
and it was said that cars broke
down frequently there. Anyway, I got there safe
and sound. After the meeting, I returned to
my car and found that I'd got a flat
tire(

). I was at a loss
when I noticed that the Friendly
Ford
Dealership- a shop
selling Ford cars--
was right next door. I walked over and found two
salesmen in the shop.

pression on his face.
6. So I told him that my car got a flat
tire and that considering the poor road condition,
it might broke down on my way
back
home.
7. Knowing what had happened to
me, he said that he would be glad to give me a
hand again.
Paragraph 2: After a while,
they quickly drove a pick-up truck to my car and
started it.
1. After listening to the
sound of the engine, Arthur told me that there was
nothing wrong with it.
2. And then they
started to fix the tire and we chatted happily.
3. Arthur told me that the thank-you
note from me inspired him to live a meaningful
life by helping others.
4. Soon
afterwards, he got the tire fixed.
5.
He got up, wiped the sweat from his face and
wished me a pleasant journey.
6. I
couldn’t thank him enough.
7. Many years have passed, but I will
never forget the lesson Arthur taught me: Life is
meaningful when you can give a
hand to
those in trouble.
