都是从属连词 ，引导让步状语从句，意为：虽然、尽管。在一句

话中，用了

a lthough/though,

不能再用

but,

yet

。例如：

Although he is young, he is wise.

他虽年轻，但很聪明。

Though it was snowing, I went out.

尽管在下雪，我还是出去了。

although

和

though

的 区别是：

1)

常置于句首，语气比

though

强，且正规，多用于书面语中。

还可用作副词

(=however),

置于句尾，

而

although

则不可。

如：

Sh e promised to come,

yet hasn't turned up until now, though.

她虽然答应来，但到现在还没来

可用于部分倒装句

尽管这可能看起来有点奇怪，她还是接受了花。

能引导让步从句的同义词组有：

even if

和

even though

意为：即使，即令……也……；

even if

的从句中含有强烈的假定性，

even though

则多以从句之内容为前提。

Even if I have to sell my house, I'll keep my business.

即使我卖掉房子，

我还是 要继续我的事业。

Even if he is poor, she loves him.(=He may be poor, yet she loves him.)

即使他很穷，她还是爱他。

Even though he is poor, she loves him. (=He is poor, yet she loves him.)

尽管他穷，她还是爱他。

作连词，也可引导让步从句，但须用倒装式。例如：

Child as he is, he knows a lot.

他尽管是孩子，但懂得很多。

Young as she is, she works very hard.

她尽管年轻，但很勤奋。

Much as I love it, I will not buy it.

尽管我喜欢它，但不想买下它。

Praised as he was, he remained modest.

他虽受到表扬，但他仍然谦虚。

Manage as we might, we could not get out of the difficulty.

尽管我们努力，还是不能走出困境。

Try as you will, you won't work it out.
