动词不定式做定语
1） 主动关系
He was the last guest to arrive(=who arrived)
He is not the man to draw back.
2) 动宾关系
He has a large family to support(=that he must support)

3) 同位关系
The boy has an impulse to jump over the fense.
I have no wish to quarrel with you.
不定式与形容词的搭配关系：
1）主句主语是不定式结构的逻辑主语
a.表示喜怒哀惧的形容词+不定式
He is glad to help each other
Henry was happy to heard it=Henry was happy when he heard it.
We were sorry not to be there.
John was very pleased to be given the job.
b)表示运气好坏的形容词+不定式
He was lucky to find it.
She was unlucky to spoil it.
c)表示心理状态，个人态度的形容词
He is anxious to see her?
He is not very keen to think about it.
We are ready to make the attempt.
d)表示性格特征和行为表现的形容词+不定式
He is foolish to meet her again.
They were thoughtful to come home early.
She was stupid to make such a mistake.
You are kind to say so.
2)主句主语是不定式结构的逻辑宾语。
That question is difficult to answer.
动词不定式做主语：
To love and to be love is the greatest thing in the world.
爱与被爱是这个世界上最大的幸福
To see is to believe.
动词不定式做宾语：
1）动词+ 不定式
afford. aim. appear. agree. arrange . ask . be . decide. bother . care . choose . come. dare.
demand. desire. determine . expect. elect . endeavor .hope. fail . happen . help . hesitate .learn .
long . mean. manage . offer . ought. plan . prepare. pretend . promise. refuse. seem. tend.
wait . wish. undertake.
举例：
The driver failed to see the other car in time.
司机没能及时看见另一辆车。
I happen to know the answer to your question.
我碰巧知道你那道问题的答案。
2） 动词+疑问词+ to
decide, know, consider forget, learn, remember, show, understand, see, wonder, hear, find
out, explain, tell

There are so many kinds of tape- recorders on sale that I can't make up my mind which to buy.
有这么多的录音机，我都拿不定主意买哪一种。
注意:疑问词带不定式在句中作成分时，谓语动词用单数。

4)以下动词后，只能跟不定式作宾语。
如：agree, ask, aim, arrange, choose, decide, demand, expect, fail ,help, hope, lean, long,
manage, offer, plan, prepare,
pretend, promise, refuse, wish 等，这些词大部分可接that引导的从句。如：
I decided to ask for my money back.
I decided that I would ask for my money back.
When our visit to the farm was over, we expected to start back on foot.
When our visit to the farm was over, we expected that we would start back on foot.
5)当复合宾语中的宾语是不定式时，先用形式宾语it代替不定式，把不定式置于补语之后，
即：主语 ＋动 词＋it＋补语＋to do句式。如：
We think it quite important for us to learn a foreign language well.
He feels it his duty to help the poor.
不定时做目的状语时
常以下面形式出现：
（to do , in order to do , so as to do）
I got up early (in order/so as)to catch the early bus.
He raised his voice (so as/in order )to be heard by all the students.
To get there in time, they started early.

He hurried home only to find nobody in.
She was too excited to say a single word.
We found the room not big enough to hold so many people.
He is so stupid as to do that.
