1.0 Introduction
Barbour Brown Engineering Ltd is a
company of a firm of consulting engineers. The
organization has three factor are
Structure/People/Task
Structure: under
a new joint partnership.
People: David,
Neil, Jake, James, two qualified, one apprentice,
on office supervisor.
Task:
A firm of consulting engineers.
Barbour Brown Engineering
Ltd was set up by David Barbour and Neil Brown by

years ago. This company has some
successful achievement, they has fixed civil
engineering contractors, and this
enabled the firm to produce the designs to a high
specification, as efficiently as
possible.
This company has
some problems about management; David is so strict
to stuff, like
use timesheet to watch
over them. He should use some relaxing policy to
make staff
feeling relax on the work
time.
If they
re-structure, have some benefit for their company,
they can change their
method of working
and management style. They have a specific goals
for company.

The organization of Current
Situation
Definition of
organization
: Organization
are made up at least two people, who have
purposes and achieve purposes, by
resources. Barbour Brown Engineering Ltd
Company’s
goal is re-
structure with John Colbert Civil Engineering
Contractors. The
company’s organization
design models is the
mechanistic model,
emphasizes
importance of achieving high
levels of production and efficiency through:
extensive

labor. David
use timesheet to supervise

style is line structure. He gave Jac

something good for company, such as marketing
management,
communicate with consumer
and partner. Neil does something good for company,
such as participate, clarity of role
and team objective. In management of objective
David didn’t has Neil’s support, in the
past 14 years,
although the development

company but don’t have a specific
organization structure, now should be

-structure.

for
company,
they
should
have
specific
new organization
structure, this
report introduce
three
organizational
structure, such
as ‘shamrock
organization’, ‘hybrid’, ‘matrix structure’.

Shamrock organization
: An
organizational structure where a core of essential
executives and workers are supported by
outside contractors and part-time help.
The shamrock leaf shape is a symbolic
representation of an organization with
three types of workforce, having a main
body and connected lobes that together
form a whole. The term was invented by
Irish academic and management
author/philosopher Charles Handy.

Diagrammatize

first
leaf
represents
the
administration,
with
middle
manager
and
management
staff in key employees. Most of them
had a good professional training. It controlled
by
David,
because
David has
been manages it for a long
time. This
leaf is

management which
govern other two leafs.

second
leaf
is
existence
by
the
enterprise

relationship
individual
or

be

structure
will

matrix
and
functional
organizations.
The advantage of this approach is that it may be
adaptable to changing

circumstances.
Disadvantages

that
it
may
lead

staff
being
confused
about what their
responsibilities are.
