ABSTRACT
Canada,
which
can
be
described
as
an
open
and
romantic
country,
is
the
gathering
place
of
world
cultures.
It
can
be
called
“the
inheriting
site
of
historic
civilizations, the fusion land of
cultural harmony.”
This
article aims at discussing the contents of
multicultural policy. In this policy,
French and British culture which make
great contributions to the Canadian history, are
identified
as
the
mainstream
culture
in
Canada.
At
the
same
time,
protecting
aboriginal
culture and foreign cultures also is an important
content in the policy. Then
this paper
analyzes the vital function of multicultural
policy in cultural areas such as
education, language, value, city
culture and life style. Not only can the policy
enhance
the
comprehensive
national
strength
of
Canada
and
improve
Canada’s
international
status, but
also it can provide an effective model to the
multinational state to deal with
the
ethnic relations. Moreover, this policy promotes
the development and stability of
the
world.
