How to configure/check WSUS configuration
on
Windows Servers
This guide is for Windows 2000 Server
and later.
We may follow
these steps to make sure the WSUS setting on
Windows Servers:
1. Type “”
in Start
Run to open Group Policy
window.
2. Navigate to Computer
ConfigurationAdministrative TemplatesWindows
ComponentsWindows Update, make sure the
following configurations:
a) Configure
Automatic Updates
–
Enable
b) Specify intranet Microsoft update
service location
–
Enable
and configure your
local WSUS server
name as Microsoft update service location.
Here, you may
configure your
WSUS server
http://xxxxxx
as
your local WSUS server name
.
c) Automatic Updates detection
frequency
–
Enable and
interval with 2 hours
3. Exit the GP
editor.
4. You may run the following
command in command line to startup this policy:
Gpupdate /force (Windows 2003 Server)
secedit /refreshpolicy (Windows 2000
Server)
If you cannot find
the group policy object “Windows Update” in
Windows 2
000
Server, please
follow these steps to add the group policy object
into
Group Policy:
1. Type “” in Start
Run to
open Group Policy window.
2. Navigate
to Computer ConfigurationAdministrative Templates
3. Right click Administrative
T
emplates and select “Add/Remove
Templates”
option.
