When I was

When
I

my

about
the
trip,
he
suggested,
“Keep
a
journal.”
More
than
ten
years
I am so thankful for
his suggestion, as I can look back on this first
trip to Europe
through my journal.
Keeping a travel journal is very
simple. During your vacation, write down the
things that interest you. They
may not
be the tourist attractions but some small things,
such as a meal and a talk.
Choose a
good journal book that you like. The size of your
book is also important. It should feel good in
your
hand.
Some
people
feel
that
a
travel
journal
book
should
be
small
and
easy
to
carry,
while
others
prefer
a
large-sized one
. My journal
has always been about 8*11 inches. I haven’t found
any real problems with carrying it.
It
fits well into a backpack.
You
’
d better get your
journal with a
waterproof(
防水的
) cover.
You can write with
different kinds of pens or pencils to make your
journal look beautiful. Even if you are not
good at drawing, a journal can make you
more creative. You will find yourself quickly
drawing things or writing
poems in your
journal. Bring back some pictures and postcards so
that you can put them in your journal. You can
cut them into the shapes you like so
that you can make your journal look more
beautiful.
Tourist maps are also a
wonderful thing to add to your journal because
they show where you have been.
There
are so many things you can write in your journal,
such as the beautiful sights, a person you have
seen in
later,
never

We saw that man in our car
a couple more times. We would give him a few

Then one day, he just wasn’t there. A

husband and I went
to the
fast food place to treat ourselves. We
heard a voice say “hi” while we were looking up at
the menu. It was that man.
He had been
working there for eight months. He was preparing
to get a flat, too.
We talked about how
his life was going before there was a line behind
us. Then I said we should probably pick
something and get out of the way. He
said, “I’ll treat you.”
He
set down a tray(
托盘
) in front
of us, with double cheeseburgers and hot coffee. I
picked it up, thanked him
and walked
away before I started crying. What he
didn
’
t know was that my
husband had been without a job for six

smiled.
