引言
随着
中国对外改革开放的不断深入和发展，特别是加入
wto
之后，
越来越多的中国商品不断地进入世界市场，与外国的商品进行竞争。
而几乎任何的商品在出口时，通常都要将中文的产品说明书翻译成
外文，方可在相应
的国家或地区销售，其中绝大部分都是汉译英的
翻译。随着我国进出口贸易的不断发展，
产品说明书的翻译在当今
社会上的需求将愈来愈广泛。在实践中，广大的翻译工作者进行
了
大量的产品说明书的翻译实践工作；在理论上，对这一具体的科技
经贸文体的翻译现象进行研究也受到了越来越的重视。因此，本文
旨在运用描写、比
较、和实例分析等文体学研究方法以及语篇翻译
理论对中文产品说明书的文体特征及其英
译特点进行归纳和研究。
1.
中文产品说明书的语篇特征
产品说明书一般属于科技和经贸实用文体的一部分。科技文体由于
题材
内容、使用方式和应用范围的特殊性而形成了自身在体例、用
词、语用和修辞等多方面的
文体特征。而在科技实用文体中，产品
说明书又是一种独特的文体。通过实例分析可以看
出，说明书在文
体上既具有科技文体的一般性，又具有自身特殊性，其内容、体例、
格式、句子结构等均与其它科技文体有较大的区别。
产品说明书承担着向消费者介绍产品的性能、作用、生产工艺
、使
用方法等多种信息的重要作用，目的在于对产品进行全面介绍与宣
< br>传。其体例和内容由于产品的不同也会有较大的差别。如工业产品
使用说明书

一般将安全使用，工作原理、结构、技术参数、安装、
调试、操作和故障排除等部分（或选用几部分）作为并列的章节安
排，形成

使用说明书一般包括食品名称，配料，食用方法，保质期
和生产日期等。而家用电器说明

一般来说它通常由特别功能，

件说明，操作要领，注意事项，保养方法几大部分组成。

其句子结构特点而言，由于其内容一般均为解释、说明、规定和
建议等，所以各种说明书
所使用的句子结构，与其它类型的科技论
文比较，一般相对要简短一些

多使用简单句、陈述句、无主句和祈
使句等，少见冗
长复杂的叠床架屋式的复合句，因此，它具备一般
说明性文本的语言特点，如简洁、明了
、轻快等。
从词汇上来看，其特点
则一般是大量使用专有名词或专业术语和缩
