1 Introduction

It has been impossible to ignore gay this phenomenon and it has entered into

people's daily people with the same sex fall in love, they want to get

married, but is their marriage legal? Should gay marriage be legal? This issue has

been argued until today.

Homosexuals are minoritiesat the margins of society, not accepted or even

discriminated against. On 29 June, 1969, The famous stonewall Riot opened a new

chapter of gay striving their legitimate rights and interests of mankind in Unite States.

After this symbolic event the gay began to fight for their rights gay

liberation movement achieved a victory. At this time, some gay activists sought the

right to marry. On Nov. 18, 2003, Massachusetts highest court ruled that the state

must allow same-sex couples to marry. On May 17, 2004, the first legal gay marriage

in the US was performed in Cambridge, MA between Tanya McCloskey, a massage

therapist, and Marcia Kadishm, an employment manager at an engineering firm

.

Before 2004, four states had banned gay 2004, 13 states saw their

constitutions amended by referenda to ban gay marriage. Between 2005 and Sep. 15,

2010, 14 more states followed suit, bringing the total number of states with

constitutional bans on gay marriage to 30

. However, On Aug. 4, 2010, the Church of

Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints released a statement saying,

man and a woman is the bedrock of society

It is agreed that gay marriage should be legal and this will be proven by three

reasons. Firstly, I think marriage is free. Secondly, I think gay marriage will make it

easier for same-sex couples to adopt children. In addition, Legalizing gay marriage

will not harm heterosexual marriages or
