This is the sad story of Mr Bump.

The trouble was that Mr Bump just could not help having little accidents.

If there was something for Mr Bump to bump into, he’d bump into in all

right.

For instance.

If you were to see Mr Bump out walking down a street in your town, and

if there happened to be something to bump into down that street, then you

know what would happen, don’t you?

这是一个关于莽撞先生倒霉的故事。

他的麻烦就在于总是不经意间地制造一些小意外。

如果有什么可以撞的东西，他一定会立刻撞上去。

比如说，

如果在你住的地方，看见莽 撞先生在街上散步，恰巧呢，在他前方有

可以撞的东西，那么你知道将要发生什么了，对 吧？

Mr Bump was just the same at home.

He lived in an extremely nice home, but even there he could’t help having

those little accidents.

莽撞先生在家里也是这样。

他住在一座非常漂亮的房子里，

For instance.

One morning when Mr Bump went outside his house he noticed that the

chimney pot had come loose in a storm the night before.

“I must fix that before it falls off,” thought Mr Bump to himself, and he

hurried to his garden shed to fetch a ladder.

It was a very long ladder!

比如说，

暴风雨过后的一个早晨，他走出房子，注意到烟囱摇摇晃晃。

“我一定要在它倒下之前把它修好。

”

忙去花园的小库房里搬来了一把梯 子。

Mr Bump walked up the garden path with the ladder on his shoulder. He

turned the corner of the garden path.

CRASH!went the living room window.

“Oh dear,” thought Mr Bum

p, and he turned to see what happened.

CRASH!went the kitchen window behind him.

“Oh dear,” thought Mr Bump again, and he rested the ladder against the

wall

of

house

so

that

he

could

climb

up

on

to

the

roof

to

mend

the

chimney pot.

CRASH! went the bedroom window!

莽撞先生扛着梯子，沿着花园的小路往回走。在拐弯处，他一转身，

“啪！哗啦啦！

”

梯子砸碎了客厅窗户的玻璃。

“呀！

什么声音？！

”

莽撞先生心想，

于是转过身，

看看是怎么回事。
