王立军事件发生以后，引起社会的高度关注，国际社会也十分关注。我可以告诉大家，中

央高度重视，立即责成有关部门进行专门调查。目前调查已经取得进展，我们将以事实为

依据，以法律为准则，严格依法办理。调查和处理的结果一定会给人民以回答，并且经受

住法律和历史的检验。

The Wang Lijun

incident has received high attention from people in China and beyond. I’d like to

tell you that the central authorities have taken this matter very seriously and after the incident took

place the central authorities immediately gave the instruction that the relevant authorities should

start an investigation into this matter and so far progress has been made in the investigation. We

will handle this issue in strict accordance with the law on the basis of facts. As far as the result of

this investigation and how this matter will be handled are concerned, an answer must be given to

the people and result of this investigation should be able to stand the test of the law and history.

多年来，重庆市历届政府和广大人民群众 ，为改革建设事业付出了很大的努力，也取得了

明显的成绩。但是现任重庆市委和市政府 必须反思，并认真从王立军事件中吸取教训。

Over the years, the successive governments of Chongqing and the people in Chongqing have

made tremendous efforts to promote reform and development and they have achieved remarkable

progress in this regard. The current Party Committee and Government of Chongqing must

seriously reflect on the Wang Lijun incident and learn lessons from the incident.

我在这里想讲一段话。建国以来，在党和政府的领导下，我国的现代化建设事业取得了巨

大的成就，但是我们也走过弯路，有过教训。

Since the founding of the People’s Republic of China, under the leadership of our party and

the

governmen

t, remarkable achievements have been made in advancing China’s modernization drive.

Yet at the same time we have taken some detours and learnt hard lessons.

党的十一届三中全会，特别是中央作出关于正确处理若干历史问题的 决议以来，确立了解

放思想、实事求是的思想路线和党的基本路线，并且做出了改革开放 这一决定中国命运和

前途的重大抉择。

Since the Third Plenary Session of the Eleventh Central Committee of CPC, in particular since the

central authorities took the decision on the correct handling of the relevant historical issues, we

have established the line of thinking that we should free our minds and seek truths from facts and

we have formulated the basic guideline of our party. In particular, we have taken the major

decision of conducting reform and opening-up in China, a decision that is crucial for

China’s

future and destiny.

历史告诉我们，一切符合人民利益的实践，都要认真吸取历史的经验 教训，并且经受住历

史和实践的考验。这个道理全国人民懂得。因此，我们对未来抱有信 心。

What has happened shows that any practice that we take must be based on the experiences and

lessons that we gained from history and it must serve the people’s interests. The practice that we

take must be able to stand the test of history and the reality. I believe the people fully recognize

this point and I have full confidence in our future.

< br>年了，这些年过得不易，也不平凡。但我总觉得还有许多工作没有做完，

许多事情 没有办好，有不少遗憾。

I have served as the premier for 9 years. They have been 9 difficult but momentous years. I often

feel that much work remains to be finished, many things have yet properly to be properly

addressed and there are many regrets.

我懂得政府的一切权力都是人民赋予的，我所做的工作都是应尽的责 任。我为能做人民的

公仆而为人民办些实事而感到欣慰。

I know full well that all power of the government comes from the people, and every piece of the

work that I have done for the people during my term of office is only a fulfillment of my due

responsibilities. I feel truly happy and encouraged that I get to have this opportunity to serve the

people as a public servant.

我真诚希望，我，连同我这一生，给人民做的有益的事情，人民都把他忘记，并随着我日

后长眠地下而湮没无闻。

I sincerely hope that the people will forget me and all the concrete things that I have done for them

and they will fall into oblivion/buried in oblivion as one day I shall go to my eternal rest.

由于能力所限，再加上体制等各方面的原因，我的工作还有许多不足。虽然 没有因为不负

责任而造成任何一件事情上的失误，但是作为国家最高行政机关的负责人， 对于我在任职

期间中国经济和社会所发生的问题，我都负有责任。为此，我感到歉疚。< /p>

Due to incompetent abilities and institutional and other factors, there is still much room for

improvement in my work. Although I have never committed any intentional error in my work

because of dereliction of duty, as head of the top executive body of the country, I should assume

responsibility for the problems that have occurred in China’s economy and society during my term

of office, for which I feel truly sorry.

在最后一年，我将像一匹负轭的老马，不到最后 一刻绝不松套。努力以新的成绩弥补我工

作上的缺憾，以得到人民的谅解和宽恕。

In my last year in office, I will be as committed as ever as an old steed. I will continue to make my

utmost efforts to serve the people to make up for the shortfall in my work with new achievements

and to

win people’s understanding and forgiveness.

When one is in office, he should discharge his

duty conscientiously, when leaving office; he should conduct himself with humility and exercise

self- reflection. I will adhere to this principle in conducting myself and I place hope on the next

generation. I have full confidence that they will do better than me.

I have devoted 45 years of my life to the service of this country, remaining committed to the

conviction that I shall delicate myself to the interests of the country in life and death, irrespective

of personal will and well. I have always made utmost efforts with strong energy and passion to

serve the country and the people and I have nerve pursued personal gains. I have the courage to

face people and to face history. There are people who will appreciate what I have done, but there

are also people who will criticize me. Ultimately, history will have the final say.

，这个奖与其说是授 予我的，不如说

是中美经贸互利共赢的一个范例。

Not long ago, the International Longshoremen's Association (ILA) in the USA gave me an award

of “best friend”of American workers.

Although I am the recipient of this award, I would rather see

this award as a strong example showing that the business relationship between China and the USA

is of mutual benefit.

记者先生提到 ，如果我做一件事能够缓解中美贸易的不平衡，那么我选择哪一件事情。其

实这个问题我 已经深思熟虑很久了，并且在

2009

年和

2011

年两次同奥巴马总统做了深谈。

我以为解决中美贸 易的不平衡，以及由此引起的各种困难和摩擦，还是要通过合作的办法。

You asked me that if there is but one thing that I can do to ease the trade balance between China

and the USA, what steps I will take. As a matter of fact, I have been thinking about this matter for

a long time. In 2009 and 2011, I had thorough exchange of views with President Obama of the

USA about this topic. I believe if we are to ease the trade balance between the two countries and

resolve the difficulties and frictions in the business ties between China and the USA. We still need

to rely on cooperation.
