王审判犯人的地方。
竞技场内有两扇门，
一扇门关着饥饿不堪的
老虎，
一扇门关着绝世美女。
一切交给老天爷决
定。
国王相信如果犯人无罪，
他应该会幸运选到美女，
选到美女的则马上在竞技场内举行盛
大的婚礼，然后带美女远走
高飞过幸福的日子；而选到老虎的人，则马上会被老虎咬死。
国王有个美丽的女儿，
偏偏爱上一个平民青年。
国家规定王室跟平民相恋是有罪的。
所以国
王发现后愤
怒不已，
把这名平民关起来并抓到竞技场。同样的，一扇门内关了老虎，一扇门
内关了一位美女。
这样无论他选择哪个门都不可能再与公主在一起，
这样国王就可以放心了。
全国的人们涌入竞技场观看，

公主也在场
。
公主事前就已经知道哪一扇门后面是
老虎，哪一扇门是美女。
