The provocative
essay reprinted here
first appeared in Ms. Magazine in
1971
and
has
become
a
classic
of
feminist
satire.
In
August 1970, she stood
before a crowd gathered in San
Francisco and read an essay she wrote
entitled
Want a Wife.
50th
anniversary
of
the
19th
amendment,
giving
women the right to vote. Judy was
heckled(

) by
men in the audience, but the essay had
an immediate
impact
within
the
strengthening

movement .
My thinking:
In this
passage, the author claimed her idea from a
man
’
s
point
of
view
,she
talked
about
the
role
of
women
in
different
times:
a
good
wife
should
be
the
one
who
is
a
skilled
housemaid
in
the
house
,she
should
take good care of his husband and his children
and make all the things prepared; a
good wife should
be the one who is a
good listener when there are some
problems,
she
can
give
all
his
trust
to
his
husband
without any doubt or
hesitation; a good wife should be
the
one who is an excellent housekeeper whenever it
is,
she
should
manage
everything
in
a
proper
order
and
make
sure
that
there
is
nothing
wrong;
a
good
wife
should be the one who is a considerate
secretary when
there
are
some
social
events,
she
can
make
all
the
necessary
preparation
and
take
all
possible
elements
into consideration .All those describes
a vivid picture of
women
’
s
movement..
I
thought
a
lot
after
reading
it
.Hundreds
of
years
ago , in our feudal society, women were
in a very low
statue
,they
could
not
go
to
school,
had
no
freedom
and no
chance to choose their husband and life ,their
embarrassing
part
in
the
feminist
