Introduction:
Chinese calligraphy is a traditional
art of Chinese characters writing
with
a long history and particular national features.
It is a unique form of
art that came
into existence with the birth of Chinese
characters, and has
been
widely
practiced
throughout
China
to
this
day.
It
has
been
developing
from
primitive
to
mature
stages
and
is
enjoyed
by
many
Chinese,
and,
together
with
Chinese
characters,
it
has
spread
to
Japan,
Korea and many
countries in Southeast Asia. Chinese Calligraphy
is not
only
an
art
of
unique
national
features
and
loved
by
Chinese
of
many
generations,
but
also
a
gem
of
human
expression
valued
by
people
throughout the world.

. Long History of Chinese
Calligraphy
Chinese Calligraphy has
developed over 5,000 years in China as a
product
of
Chinese
culture.
It
is
both
a
wonderful
art
and
an
important
part
of
the
traditional
Chinese
culture.
The
developmental
history
of
it
can be
divided into three periods. The pre-Qin Period
(before 221BC) is
the period of the
early beginning. The second period is from the
Western
Han
Dynasty
(206BC
—
24)
to
the
Tang
period
(618
—
907).
It
is
the
period of the maturity. From the five
Dynasty (907
—
960) to the end
of
Qing
Dynasty(1644
< br>—
1911),
which
is
the
modern
period
of
calligraphy
development, in
which there had been individualistic development.

Description of Chinese Calligraphy
Calligraphy,
along
with
the
ancient
musical
instrument
(Zheng),
chess and Chinese
painting together formed the four skills for a
scholar to
pursue
in
ancient
China.

It
can
express
the
writers
’
various
feelings,
aesthetic
ideas,
thoughts,
education
as
well
as
his
personality
through the use of a brush. The
structure of Chinese characters and their
rich
connotations
make
them
an
ideal
calligraphy
medium.

express the various calligraphy styles.
There are many kinds of brushes of
different sizes, and which were made
from
a
variety

materials
(sheep
wool
or
wolf

characters.

five
main
styles
of
calligraphy
popular
among
calligraphers: Seal form, Official
form, Cursive form, Regular form, and
Running form. They are closely
interrelated and each has its own shape
and
feature.

2. The
structure of Chinese Calligraphy
Another element in
calligraphy is the structure, which
involves the
suitable and artistic
arrangement of the strokes based on the form and
the
writer

aesthetic
interest.
In
order
to
endow
each
character
with
a
fullness of life and animation, the
layout of the points and the execution
of the brush movement stress the
balance, escape and supplement, facing
up and the reverse, capping and
piercing , filling a blank, siding, covering,
increase and decrease. Principles and
the skills contribute to the beauty of
the
script
to
be
appreciated
by
views.
They
are
dense,
sparse,
slant,
forthright, void,
full, concentrate, scattered, proportional,
harmonious and
coordinated.
