WHO<
/p>
定义为
pandemic
WHO
WHO
How can we treat the
pandemic COVID-19
第一段
This spring
saw
the outbreak of the
pandemic
COVID-19.
With the
spread of
the infectious
disease
reaching a boiling
point
,
it follows
that
some countries are
struggling with a lack of capacity, some
countries are struggling with a lack of
resources and some countries
are
struggling with a lack of
resolve
. Undoubtedly, the
pandemic
has
cast a cloud
on
the world and
rung the
bell loud and clear
.
saw
s
ome countries
boiling
point,
cloud, ring the bell
)
WHO
the outbreak of the
pandemic
With the spread of
随着
< br>…
的传播
reach a
boiling point
it follows
that…
结果是
resolve
决定
cast a cloud
on
ring
the bell loud and
clear
Luckily, it’s
China that becomes
the
silver lining
and
sheds new
light on
the virus
with expertise
to
build up people’s confidence
to
defeat it. For one thing,
doctors and nurses, despite the lack of
necessary equipment and
the
sword of Damocles hanging over their
head
, have become
the backbone of
the battle,
voluntarily
working
on the
front lines
around the
clock
. Indeed, they deserve
all the admiration and love! For
another, the whole Chinese would
rather
obediently
stay at home
isolated
than go out
in case of
human-to-human
transmission or droplet transmission
.
Those
who were infected or
in contact with
the infected
shall
be
quarantined
and
subjected to
medical observation
.
It's widely
believed
that
with joint efforts
China’s quick recovery is
on
the
horizon
.
(
silver
lining
,
on
the
front
lines
would
rather
do…than…;
It
luckily,
indeed
admittedly,
上文的
undoubtedly
the silver
lining
shed
new light on
为
…
做出新
的解释
with
expertise
build up people’s
confidence
the sword of Damocles hanging over
their
head
the backbone
of
on the
front lines
在前线
around the
clock
全天候
obediently
isolated
in
case
of
human-to-
human
transmission
or
droplet
/?dr?
pl
p>
?
t/
transmission
in
contact with
接触
be
quarantined /?kw?
r
?nti?n/
be subjected
to
服从
medical
observation
It's widely believed
that
on the
horizon
So we call for other countries to
take urgent and aggressive
action
.
First, attitude
counts. The challenge for many countries who are
now
dealing
with
large
clusters
or
community
transmission
is
not
whether
they
can do
the
same
–
it’s
whether
they
will. Second,
if
countries
detect
,
test,
treat,
isolate,
trace
,
and
mobilize
their
people
in the response,
those with
a handful of
cases can prevent those cases
becoming
clusters,
and
those
clusters
becoming
community
transmission.
Last, great importance should be attached to
sanitation
,
such
as
wearing
masks
when
in
the
open
air,
washing
hands
frequently,
and
protecting
wild
animals
instead
of
having
them
for
food.
WHO
的。展开很
:
those
clusters
becoming
community
transmission
是
those
clusters
can
prevent
the
cases
becoming
community
transmission
when in the open
air
take
urgent and aggressive
action
large
clusters
community
transmission
detect
发现
trace
追踪
mobilize
动员
a handful of
一些
sanitation
卫生
wearing masks
第四段
Admittedly, these measures are
taking a heavy toll on
societies and
economies, just as they
did in China. But all countries must
strike a
fine
balance
between
protecting
health,
minimizing
economic
and
social
disruption
,
and
respecting
human
rights.
This
is
not
just
a
public health crisis, it is a crisis
that will touch every sector
–
Isn’t it
an
irony
if
we
are
just
standers-by
shouting
empty
slogans
or
looking for a scapegoat
in the face of
the
deadly virus
?
WHO
Admittedly…but…
诚然
…
但是
…
/p>
scapegoat
shout
empty
slogans
take a heavy toll on
使
…
strike
a fine balance
minimize economic and social disruption
irony
standers-by
shout empty
slogans
look
for a scapegoat
in the face of
面对
deadly virus

Good
afternoon.
In the past two weeks, the
number of cases of COVID-19
outside
China
has
increased
13-fold,
and
the
number
of

countries has tripled.
There

more
than

and
4,291 people have lost their lives.
Thousands more are fighting
for their lives in hospitals.
In the
days and weeks ahead, we expect to see the number
of cases, the number of deaths, and the
number of affected
countries climb even
higher.
WHO has been assessing this
outbreak around the clock and
we are
deeply concerned both by the alarming levels of

and severity, and by the
alarming levels of inaction.
We
have
therefore
made
the
assessment
that
COVID-19
can
be
characterized as a pandemic.
Pandemic
is
not
a

to use
lightly
or
carelessly. It
is
a word
that, if misused, can cause unreasonable fear, or
unjustified acceptance that the fight
is over, leading to
unnecessary
suffering and death.
Describing the
situation as a pandemic does not change
WHO’s
assessment
of
the
threat
posed
by
this
virus.
It
