Personally, I like history as a subject
because it explains how things got to be the way
they are today and that takes us
one
step closer to knowing how to work towards a
better future.
There are many lessons
in history to be learned, many beyond the simple
facts of events that took place.
The
aim of learning history is to understand our world
better by making comparisons among similar events
in the past.
Determining what is right/
what is wrong might be controversial; but
comparing current issue with similar things in
different times or cultures might give
us objective guidelines!
History is
meant to be read as HIS -(S)
TORY
. It helps us to appreciate what we
have today, all our comforts, our
freedom into which we were born & we
take for granted. We also realize all the mistakes
made by our ancestors &
learn to
improve upon them. Also we get to know about their
successes & learn to build upon their successes.
It also
provides us an insight into our
culture & traditions.
