Writing 1: How the buildings were used?
The article states how the
buildings were used in the settlements of Chaco
Canyon in New Mexico.
There
are
three
hypothesizes,
including
residential
place,
storehouse
and
ceremonial
centers.
However, in the lecture, the professor
contradicts the arguments from three aspects.
First, the reading claims that the
structures were purely residential with each
housing hundreds of
people
like
apartment
buildings.
On
the
contrary,
the
professor
refutes
that
the
evidence
is
not
enough
because
there
is
only
few
fireplace
in
the
buildings.
If
they
are
big
enough
to
accommodate many people, there would be
more fireplaces to cook.
Second, the
article says that the structures were used to
store food supplies, especially for grain
maize. Conversely, the professor
disagrees with the idea. He claims that the maize
containers have
not been found in the
structures. If they were used to store, why should
the floors be built because
only large
empty rooms were needed?
Finally, the
reading states that the structures were used as
ceremonial centers with the finding of
discarded pots. Inversely, the
professor denies the opinion. He says that the
discarded pots are one
kind of regular
trashes. They include stone and construction tools
in them.

Therefore, it
seems that many people today spend too much time
on personal enjoyment, such as

They seldom take part in social activities
which are beneficial to the society. In
a word, they are doing things they like to do,
rather than
doing things they should
do. In my opinion, I am afraid that I disagree
with this statement for the
following
reasons.
First, doing his own work well
is definitely beneficial to the society. Everyone
in the world has his
own work which he
needs to do. Students must to study hard to
achieve all kinds of knowledge
and
improve themselves. Workers should complete their
assignments and provide diverse products
with good quality. Parents should take
care of their family, including elders and
children, even a
member in diseases. As
a matter of fact, they are continuously making
contributions to the society
if they
are doing their work well. For example, after the
students master the knowledge, they could
use them to do something good to the
society and resolve problems
in the
world. The products
with
good
quality
that
workers
produce
might
be
helpful
to
perfect
people
’
s
life.
If
our
family
members feel happy
and pleasant, we absolutely make great
contributions to the social stability.
Furthermore,
many
people
tend
to
attend
volunteerism
in
their
spare
time.
Let
take
me
as
an
example. I am working part time in a
supermarket and free in weekends. Frequently, I
would like
to
visit
our
community
center
and
do
some
volunteering
job
without
any
pay.
Sometimes,
I
prepare lunch for the homeless people.
Sometime, I help do charity donation and package
food or
clothes for people in trouble.
It is interesting to do volunteerism. I feel happy
when I know they
