Dear Sir or Madam:
I have received many offers from other
universities in UK, but it is my ultimate goal to
join
your
university,
Queen
Mary.
Unfortunately
as
per
conditional
offer
I
received,
the
academic condition of 3.5 is a bit high
for me to gain. My GPA
is 3.4 for 130
credit points
now (with scholarship
prize this year).
I
do not
think it is very
fair to group
all
applicants
whose
Chinese
universities
are
outside
the
top-100-list
together
for
a
3.5
GPA.
With
a
genuine passion to join your
university, I wish an exemption can be granted to
me given to
my extensive experience in
related fields.
I have
always wanted to understand more about the world,
not about its physical form
or its
surface, but about the people in it and the
reasons why we have come to live the way
we do, the reasons for conflicts,
government decisions and economic developments.
Since I was a kid I have
been used to watching TV news every night and
discussing
the
contemporary
issues
with
my
father
who
has
great
passion
for
politic
issues
in
particular. Deeply influenced by my
father, who was a sales manager in Novartis, I
“inherit”
and nurture this passion for
international relations study. For that reason, I
chose History
for my high school major
and learnt numerous historical events of the main
countries in the
world, not only
restricting to those events themselves, but also
about the reasons and the
after effects
in terms of politics, economics and culture.
My
knowledge
about
international
order,
world
war,
globalization,
economic
crisis,
region
conflicts,
revolution
and
so
on,
has
accumulated
further
during
my
Political
Economics
curriculum
since
2008
when
I
started
university.
I
have
been
extensively
engaging in
volunteer work in
the joint
international study office by
xxx and my Chinese
university. As a reward, I got the
chance to interview the vice deputy of Ireland
consulate,
which aimed to introduce the
Ireland’s past and present to our school students.
At the end of
2009, in virtue of my excellent performance during
the previous work, I
stood out from all
candidates and was elected to join in College
Student’s Simulate APEC,
responsible
for
discussing
global
development
strategies
after
the
economic
crisis,
and
the
effects of establishing global trading regions. I
was a member of popularization group,
and
acted
as
the
representative
of
Japan
at
the
Simulate
APEC.
This
project
is
a
joint
program
among
Shanghai
Ministry
of
Education
and
seven
top
business
schools which
included
mine,
dedicating
to
practical
curriculum
education
with
the
aim
at
promoting
students’
interests,
knowledge
and
understanding
about
contemporary
global
issues.
During the first period, I designed a
questionnaire, leading audience students to attend
the
lectures
with
specific
directions
such
as
the
features
of
raising
of
the
great
power,
economic
crisis,
conflicts,
relations,
productivity,
technology,
etc.
Moreover,
our
explanation
illustrated
by
the
lecturers
was
tailored
for
the
student
audiences
for
the
purpose
of
better
understanding
and
an
easy
learning
experience.
As
an
observer,
I
recorded
in
detail
what
kind
of
topics
and
issues
were
most
attractive
to
university
students, what
methods were more suitable for students to
cultivate their interest and so
on.
After
lectures,
students
are
encouraged
to
write
down
their
comments
on
this
experience, which is also an important
source of information to our research. Those data
and information were collected for
general review, and
proved to
be an efficient way for
students’ study and valuable resources
for r
esearch. At the final Simulate
APEC, with the
knowledge
and
previous
study
for
the
economic
politics,
I
acted
as
Japanese
Prime
Minister, discussing and arguing for
the current global issues with the “Prime
Minister” or
the “President” of other
countries.
This experience broadened my
vision and deepened my
understanding in
international relations.
As a student in xxxx with specialty of
Journalism, I have not only attained outstanding
performance
in
various
activities
and
projects
but
also
have
taken
a
leading
role
in
academic performance.
Thanks to the profound knowledge in media, in the
year of 2011, I
got the offer to work
as an intern in China Vista Times.
One of the interviews I
engaged in is to an interview with a person by the
name of Li,
