Personal Statement
My
concern
over
public
health
and
health
science
began
in
2003
when
I
was
in
primary school. Almost
overnight, schools were closed, everybody was
panic and my
parents as doctor became
extremely busy--all because of the SARS outbreak
in China.
The TV news broadcasting the
epidemic progress did not appeal to me--I was
simply
terrified.
At
that
time,
two
workers
coming
to
our
community
for
epidemiological
investigation of suspected SARS cases
vividly illustrated me what the SARS is and
how to prevent it. That was the first
time I had heard of the phrase
investigation
the
communities
for
public
health.
Those
public
health
workers
are
as
great
and
helpful as those doctors
fighting in the forefront against SARS. Indeed, a
doctor in a
specific hospital has
limited targets, while a public health worker can
contact and help
even more people by
publicizing knowledge to prevent diseases. Years
later, with the
continued
perfection
of
my
thoughts,
I
have
made
up
my
mind
to
become
a
professional in the realm
of health information system development and
assessment,
dedicating myself to help
more people to build more reasonable lifestyles
and health
concepts.
Four
years
of
university
study
lay
a
solid
foundation
for
my
dream
chasing.
Considering
the
limited
voluntary
professional
choices
in
university
application,
meanwhile
the
long
ignored
importance
of
physical
exercise
for
health,
I
chose
the
health-
related Physical Education major. During the
undergraduate study, I took many
health-related interdisciplinary
courses combining medical science and public
health.
In addition, I actively
participated those programs organized by my
teachers, such as
studying the effect
of exercise on the elderly sarcopenia and
Assessing the damage of
sedentary
behavior to the cardiorespiratory fitness. A lot
of these programs used the
study method
of epidemiology, which gave me a preliminary sense
of epidemiology.
To study
epidemiological method systematically, I took two
public health professional
classes --
biomedical statistics and clinical epidemiology,
and finally I obtained even
betterresult than many students in this
major and gained the recognition of teachers. In
my spare time, I applied for the
college students' scientific research innovation
project
of
Zhejiang
province
--
The

physical activity.
In recent years, the worsening haze has
seriously
affected
the
life
quality
of
urban
residents,
so
this
project
is
of
great
practical
significance
to
school
administrators
in
need
of
scientific
management
measures.
In
order to get familiar with public health related
application areas, I took an active
part in professional internships and
research projects during my spare time. From June
to September in 2014, I
worked as an intern in
Tianjin Centers for Disease Control
and
Prevention
(TJCDC).
