园的经历。

last weekend, tom and i paid a visit to the summer palace,
which proved to be very interesting and rewarding.

we arrived at the entrance early in the morning and i
introduced the history of the park to tom briefly. the moment
we entered the park, tom was attracted by the beautiful
scenery and we walked along the beautiful lake happily. soon,
we noticed an elderly man practicing calligraphy on the ground,
with a bucket of water aside. holding a big writing brush in his
hand, he wrote the chinese character for “longevity”. as well
as other tourists,we couldn’t help but admire his skills.

to our surprise, the elderly man invited tom to have a try. with
his help, tom completed his first calligraphy task, the two
chinese characters for “china”,quite successfully. before we
left, we took a phototogether to memorize this valuable
experience. in the picture, tom held the writing brush and the
elderly man smiled, with his thumb up.

i was so glad that i could help my foreign friend to learn about
the art of the language we have been using for several
thousand years. in addition, i rediscovered the charm of
chinese culture.

on february 6, i went to visit my grandma. entering the room, i
found her busy making papercuts. looking at the calendar, i

with her patient instruction, i learnt the basic steps and skills
of making paper cuts. it wasn’t long before my creationswere
“born”. then eagerly, we put them up. with different designs on

to share our happiness with others, we called on our next
door neighbors and gave them some of our paper cuts. i felt
proud when receiving their appreciation of our gifts.

olympic games came to us immediately. when the designing
work was done, we set about working on the blackboard. we
took on different tasks. besides writing down the main events
of the year neatly on the blackboard, we also decorated it with
beautiful drawings. thanks to our hard work, our design finally
won the first prize. we were not only proud of our teamwork
but also deeply impressed by the great achievements of our
country.

this winter vacation i went to dunhuang to explore the silk

introduced the wall paintings to us. with curiosity , we listened
attentively, asking questions and taking notes. the camel ride
on the third day was surely the most exciting part of our tour.
looking far into the desert, i pictured how ancient chinese
travelled along the silk road. how time flew! soon it was the
last day of our tour. at the train station, we took a photo
holding a banner with “ culture tour along the silk road” on it.

the trip ended but my interest keeps growing and i’m longing
to see more
