My view on the post-graduate craze.
Nowadays, there is a majority of senior student choosing to go after the
post-graduate when they are faced with the choice of graduation, which
has been a fashion sweeping all over the universities. Various factors, I
think, contribute to this situation of the post-graduate craze.
Among the students who decide to continue with postgraduate
education, they are divided into two groups. For the one group, they are
willing to devote themselves to the academic research and usually they
have a direct goal about the future. It’s necessary for them to get the
postgraduate education. This kind of students is generally the top students
in one class.
However, not all the students have the interests on academic field. For
the other group, most students are usually confused about what they can
do when they step into society. It’s long term school life that makes
students have not enough confidence to be adapted to the new
environment after their graduation. What’s more, the tense graduate
employment situation frightens the future graduates and they would
rather have a try to the examination for postgraduate than avoid looking
for work. The reason for the dilemma is that universities put excessive
attention on book knowledge and neglect the necessity of society skills.
As a result, senior students had better decide whether they should take
part in the postgraduate examination after their deep consideration.
