To make a difference in a child’s life, I recently Joined the Make-A-Wish Arizona team, which
was able to accept 355 wishes this year. While each wish was as 41 as the child who
dreamt it, one that touched me most was Annie’s wish to meet the Pope(罗马教皇). In fact,
there was not one 42 eye in the Wish House when Annie’s wish came true.
Given 3-6 months to live after being 43 to have stage IV stomach cancer, most
people would be 44 . Not Annie, who wrote the most 45 letter to us asking for her
wish: to have last rites (临终祈祷) 46 to her by the Pope. Well, the Pope doesn’t do that,
but he did 47 to meet with her, and with planning by the staff, she eventually met the
Pope and got a 48 from him. The time with him was 49 short of extraordinary.
She reported that he even posed for photos!
Nothing could have made this 50 more amazing when the Pope asked the crowd
towait a moment while he 51 a full mass(弥撒)for her. Working there, we were all 52
to meet Annie as she came to the Wish House to 53 her remarkable story. She is 54
afortunate young lady!
Wishes like Annie’s give life new meanings. You can 55 what an incredible amount of
support it takes to make these happen. That is 56 I encourage you to join me inmaking a
57 to this charity activity, whether it is $$30, $$50, $$100 or even er it can 58
allowing more wishes like Annie’s to come true and it can helpMake-A-Wish kids 59 their
courage to face illnesses and find a(an) 60 point in theirlives.

Trying new things is the only way we can discover hidden talents. I 41 my career as
an editor for a magazine. I didn’t really mind the work, but I wanted something more 42 .
Then I was offered a management 43 of a digital reading company. The job was a
seemingly 44 mix of my skills and interests, so I jumped at it.
45 , soon after I joined the company, its model changed to focus on K-12 education,
and everything about my position changed. I was asked to take on the 46 different roles
of selling content to teachers and training people. I felt more than a little 47 my comfort
zone.
I knew I wanted to grow as a(an) 48 and make a serious effect on the company. I
told myself that everything feels 49 at first and I should at least try. 50 , I felt like I
didn’t have a(an) 51 . I knew jumping out of the 52 was the right thing for me,
even though it felt pretty awful.
I was fortunate to be 53 by very helpful people, both at work and at home. They
kept 54 me. I spent hours researching my company’s 55 . I asked lots of questions
and spoke to many people in need. I looked for opportunities to put in extra 56 . The
more I did, the better I felt.
Over time, I discovered that the job was 57 I could do and liked doing. It was an
amazing 58 to see the company grow and know that my efforts contributed to 59
success and that it’s important to take risks and accept new 60 . Actually, there’s nothing
worse than failing because you refuse to even try.

Four years ago in church, I saw a child of my age. His 41 was pinned on thebulletin

“Look, it’s Baldy!” A boy shouted in my direction across the playground. Even

won’t grow there.”
As a child, I cared much about my scars, so I 48 wore a scarf to cover
them up when I left home. 49 I didn’t, people would call me horrible names like
Baldy. Although my friends were always comforting me, they never 50
understood how it felt.
Then through the hospital I was 51 to a children’s burns camp, where
children like me can get any help. There, I 52 14-year-old Stephanie, whose
burns are a lot more serious than mine. But she is so 53 that she never lets
anyone put her down. “You shouldn’t 54 what people say about what you look
like because we’re not different from anyone else, Holly,” she 55 me. “And you
don’t need to wear a scarf because you look great 56 it!” For the first time in
