Robots have entered ordinary people’s life widely since the past century.
However, the controversy between robot application and restriction on robot
production is still an emerging issue. In order to find whether the advantages of robot
application outweigh the disadvantages, which in turn lead to discuss the
government's action on the investment towards robot business, it is essential to extract
the effects of robots on both positive and negative sides. Robots are beneficial due to
their high working efficiency, ability to complement human weakness, but they are
also limited because the deprivation of job opportunities.
The biggest contribution of robots is their application in manufacturing.
Compared to workers, robots demand low wages, no subsidy, and no need for rest.
Additionally, they are able to work faster and more efficient which increases
productivity. In a factory which only has robotic workers, the producing rate
drastically increases three times than before. If governments spend more money
on robot in factories, the productivity is going to increase dramatically.
Robots are also beneficial for the recovering of patients. The wearable
devices are able to push patients’ boundaries of their capabilities. If a person's leg
gets injured, the devices equipped on his legs could help him walk even faster
than before. Moreover, the robotic technology enhances human brain function to
a great extent. It acts as an alternative organ for people with lung failure or other
disabilities, which gives them a second chance to come back to life.
Utilizing robots massively could lead to fewer job opportunities for people.
In some cases, robots will replace people’s position because of their cheap and
high efficiency characteristics. In some factories, many employees get dismissed
and the positions are taken by robots. Currently, there is a considerable number of
