we are the world ,we are the future
omeone said “we are reading the first verse of the
first chapter of a book, whose pages are infinite”. i
don’t know who wrote these words, but i’ve always liked
them as a reminder that the future can be anything we
want it to be. we are all in the position of the farmers.
if we plant a good seed ,we reap a good harvest. if we
plant nothing at all, we harvest nothing at all.
we are young. “how to spend the youth?” it is a
meaningful question. to answer it, first i have to ask
“what do you understand by the word youth?” youth is
not a time of life, it’s a state of mind. it’s not a
matter of rosy cheeks, red lips or supple knees. it’s
the matter of the will. it’s the freshneof the deep
spring of life.

a poet said “to see a world in a grain of sand, and
a heaven in a wild flower, hold infinity in the palm of
your hand, and eternity in an hour. several days ago, i
had a chance to listen to a lecture. i learnt a lot there.
i’d like to share it with all of you. let’s show our
right palms. we can see three lines that show how our
and life is. i have a short line of life.
what about yours? i wondered whether we could see our
future in this way. well, let’s make a fist. where is
our future?
where is our love, career, and life? tell , it
is in our hands. it is held in ourselves.
we all want the future to be better than the past.
but the future can go better itself. don’t cry because
it is over, smile because it happened. from the past,
we’ve learnt that the life is tough, but we are tougher.
we’ve learnt that we can’t choose how we feel, but we
can choose what about it. failure doesn’t mean you
don’t have it, it does mean you should do it in a
different way. failure doesn’t mean you should give up,
it does mean you must try harder.

as what i said at the beginning, “we are

do will change it. but the future is in front of us.
believe that what we give to the world, the world will
give to us. and from today on, let’s be the owners of

Good morningafternoonevening, my name isXXX . It is
really a great honor to have this opportunitychance to
introduce myself. I would like to answer whatever you may
raise, and I hope I can make a good performance today.
I am a third year master major in automation at
Shanghai Jiao Tong University, P. R. China.
Withtremendous interest in Industrial Engineering, I am
writing to apply for acceptance into your Ph.D. graduate
program.
In 1995, I entered the Nanjing University of Science
& Technology (NUST) -- widely considered one of the
China’s best engineering schools. During the following
undergraduate study, my academic records kept

distinguished among the whole department. I was granted
First Class Prize every semester,In 1999, I got the
privilege to enter the graduate program waived of the
admission test.
At the period of my graduate study, my overall
GPA(3.774.0) ranked top 5% in the department. In the
second semester, I became teacher assistant that is given
to talented and matured students only. This year, I won
the Acer Scholarship as the one and only candidate in my
department, which is the ultimate accolade for
distinguished students endowed by my university.
Presently, I am preparing my graduation thesis and trying
for the honor of Excellent Graduation Thesis.
Research experience and academic activity
When a sophomore, I joined the Association of AI
Enthusiast and began to narrow down my interest for my
future research. With the tool of OpenGL and Matlab, I
designed a simulationprogram for transportation
scheduling system. It is now widely used by different
research groups in NUST. I assumed and fulfilled a sewage
analysis & dispose project for Nanjing

sewagetreatment plant. This was my first practice to
convert a laboratory idea to a commercial product.
In retrospect, I find myself standing on a solid
basis in both theory and experience, which has prepared
me for the Ph.D. program. My future research interests
include: Network Scheduling Problem, Heuristic Algorithm
research (especially in GA and Neural network), Supply
chain network research, Hybrid system performance
analysis with Petri nets and Data Mining.

good afternoon ，ladies and gentlemen!
i’m very honored to stand here and give you a short
speech! to begin with ,i want to ask a question .does
everybody dream a good dream last night? actually ,today
i want to talk about dream with you. of course, what i
want to talk is not a dream you have last night,but a
dream-- about life.
everyone has dreams about life, different dreams at
different life stage,and we need dreams to support us.
dreams are like the stars we never reach in the sky,but
like most mariners(水手),we can chart our course by them.
with the dream,we have a direction,with a direction, we

were no longer the dream, there is
hope,with hope, we have the strength to fight.
i have a dream: to be a doctor.，because doctor may
relieve the pain of patients. may let the human change
the health. at the same time, i believed that, those who
help others may be able to obtain joyfully. therefore, i
hoped in the near future ,i might be a doctor.
but i know，life is tough,and there are always ups
and downs, maybe we fail in the way to our aims,and we
may feel depressed ,whenever at this time, the dream in
our heart can always comfort us, encourage us ,and
support us to move ahead .
young!fortunately, i am young now. just due to it, i
know that nothing is impossible.i firmly believe that
nothing can stand in my way. if i can't realize my
dream,it result from that i haven't work harder
enough and i won't find other excuses. if no people
believe you, you can make it to prove that you are right.
if you think the god haven't blessed you and there is
no truth here, you can become the god and create the
truth.

“my breath swallows the sky and make the yellow
river overflow, my sword is famous in kyushu and it can
collapse the five sacred mountains.”; at some time in
the past i also had am bitious words and i had some
achievements. each achievement results from my hard work.
i always believe that “if you want to have more
achievements than others, you must work harder.”; in
some extent, the dream is the hope. if you can insist on
doing something, the victory will come.
