It

Mattel

Toy

Company in

1959. It was named by Ruth handler who used his

daughter

s name. The 3D model

was

a

German

doll-a

sold

sex

joke

gift.

But

Mattel

refashioned

the

doll

into

a

decent.

Now

Barbara still likes the doll. But her brother ken disgusts it.

American Gothic

The

painting

shows

front

farmhouse.

His

painting

was

inspired

by

the

Gothic

window

of

an

old

farmhouse.

sister as the models. His sister was benefited from his painting.

The Buffalo Nickel

The Buffalo nickel was produced from 1913 to 1938 to honor a pair of connected tragedies from

the settlement of the American frontier. Famed artist James Earle Fraser went against tradition by

using three actual American Indians as models for his creation. He was forced to sketch an aging

buffalo for the other side of coins. It made buffalo sold and killed.

Wilson joined the army to liberate the American colonies from the British

during the America Revolution. He started a meat-packing business and earned a reputation for

being honest and hard- working. According to

one story, when a government official

visited the

plant,

creative

employee

told

him

’

was

short

for

Uncle

Sam

’

Wilson.

After

the

war

,

a

character called Uncle Sam began appearing in political cartoons and replaced Brother Jonathan

as American

s most popular symbol. It is a tall man with white hair and a small white beard on his

chin, a dark blue coat and a tall hat with stars on it.

The Great Wall of China

The Great Wall of China is more than 6000 kilometers long. The Great Wall has a

history of over twenty centuries. The first part of it was built during the spring and Autumn

Period. To keep the enemy out of his empire, Emperor Qin Shi Huang had all the walls joined up.

Thus, the Great Wall came into being. Thousands of men died and were buried under the wall

they built. Today the Great Wall has become a place of interest not only to the Chinese but to
